Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026
This policy explains how Crossroad Inter-Varsity Christian Initiative (CICI Armenia, “we”, “us”) handles personal data when you use this website or contact us. It is written to meet the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Law of the Republic of Armenia on Protection of Personal Data.
1. Who is responsible
The controller of your personal data is CICI Armenia (Crossroad Inter-Varsity Christian Initiative), 10/12 Aygestan, Yerevan 0025, Armenia. Email: info@cici.am, phone: +374 44 377556.
For any question about your data or to exercise your rights, write to info@cici.am.
2. No tracking, no cookies
This website does not use cookies, browser storage, analytics, advertising or tracking tools. All fonts and images are stored on our own server, so opening the site does not send your data to Google or any other third party. Because of this, the site does not need a cookie banner.
Links to Facebook, Instagram, Google Maps and the IFES donation page are ordinary links. Those services only receive your data if you click a link and visit them; their own privacy policies then apply.
3. What data we process and why
Visiting the website. When you open a page, our hosting server automatically records technical data: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, and your browser and device type. We need this to deliver the website and keep it secure. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). These logs are kept for a short period, normally no longer than 30 days, unless needed to investigate an attack.
Contact form and emails. The contact form does not send anything by itself: it opens your own email app with a message to info@cici.am. If you send it, or write to us in any other way, we process your name, email address, phone number if given, and your message, so we can reply and, if you wish, help you take part in groups, events, camps or volunteering. Legal basis: steps taken at your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We delete this correspondence when it is no longer needed, at the latest 24 months after our last contact with you.
Newsletter. If you tick the consent box and send the subscription email, we use your name and email address to send you news about our ministry. We confirm your subscription by replying to your email before adding you to the list. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to info@cici.am or using the unsubscribe option in any newsletter; this does not affect messages sent before. We delete your details when you unsubscribe.
Donations. Online gifts are made on the IFES website and processed by IFES as an independent controller under the IFES privacy policy. We never see or store your card details.
4. Religious information
Because we are a Christian ministry, the fact that you contact us or subscribe to our news may indicate your religious beliefs, which the GDPR treats as a special category of data (Art. 9). We process this data only as a not-for-profit body with a religious aim, for people in regular contact with us, and we never disclose it outside CICI without your consent (Art. 9(2)(d) GDPR). For the newsletter we also rely on your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR).
5. Who receives your data
We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. Your data is only seen by CICI staff and volunteers who need it, and by service providers that host our website and email on our behalf. These providers act on our instructions under data processing agreements (Art. 28 GDPR). We may disclose data where the law requires it.
6. Transfers outside the EU
CICI is based in Armenia. The European Commission has not issued an adequacy decision for Armenia. If you contact us or subscribe from the EU or EEA, your data is transferred to Armenia because this is necessary to answer your request (Art. 49(1)(b) GDPR) or because you have explicitly consented to it (Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR). Where our service providers process data in other countries, we use appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR).
7. Your rights
You have the right to: access the data we hold about you (Art. 15); have it corrected (Art. 16) or deleted (Art. 17); restrict how we use it (Art. 18); receive it in a portable format (Art. 20); object to processing based on our legitimate interests (Art. 21); and withdraw your consent at any time (Art. 7(3)).
To use any of these rights, email info@cici.am. We will answer within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU country where you live or work, or in Armenia to the Personal Data Protection Agency of the Ministry of Justice.
8. Do you have to give us your data?
No. Giving us your data is voluntary. Without your email address we cannot reply to you or send you the newsletter. We do not use automated decision-making or profiling.
9. Children
Our ministry is for university and college students. If you are under 16, please ask a parent or guardian before subscribing to our newsletter.
10. Security
The website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and access to personal data within CICI is limited to the people who need it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our website or services change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
